In the spring of 1979, the first museum, which was located in one room on the second floor of the Clark Memorial Building on Main Street, opened to the public.
The museum was moved to the historic Trinity Episcopal Church at 13 School Street a short time after the Clark Memorial Building reverted to the Clark family heirs and was no longer used for municipal purposes. The church was purchased in 1997 by the Town of Milton for the use as a museum. After renovations, the doors opened to the public in 2001.
Visiting Hours
May - October: Open Saturdays, 10 AM - 2 PM
Year-Round: By appointment, [email protected] or 802-893-1604
Reimagining the Milton Historical Museum
In 2020, the Society formed a committee to "reimagine" what the Milton Historical Museum might look like to increase engagement with the community, attract more visitors, and promote the work of the Society. The process is now complete with several theme related exhibits. Come discover and reminisce stories of the people, places and times past.
Historical Programs
We typically host 8 -10 programs per year at the museum or at other designated locations, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM. Programs will be posted on our Calendar of Events, shared online and to local media.
